Chapters 26-28 Summary

In Chapter 26, JoLayne, who was once a nurse, tries to treat Chub's gunshot wound, but he is cruel and hurtful toward her. Bode gets loose during the struggle to help Chub. Krome chases after him and they fight on the edge of the water near JoLayne's rented boat. At one point, Bode steps on a stingray. he marine creature stabs Bode in the leg, severing the artery in his groin. JoLayne tries to get Bode to tell her why they decided to rob her, but Bode is too weak to respond. Krome and JoLayne leave the island, leaving Bode and Chub stranded.

In Chapter 27, Shiner and Amber arrive at Chub's trailer only to find that Shiner's car has been broken into. The video surveillance tape is missing. This frightens Amber and she decides they cannot keep the lottery ticket. Moffitt is...
