Chapters 11-13 Summary
In Chapter 11, the managing editor of The Register calls Sinclair to his office and demands that he find Krome before the beginning of the following week when Krome is expected to win an Amelia, an award for feature writers. Sinclair immediately packs to go to Grange. In Miami, Chub imagines he is in love with Amber, the Hooters' waitress and that he can convince her to love him. Bode does not like the idea, however, because Amber's boyfriend appears to be Hispanic, which makes her impure. When Bode and Chub leave Hooters that night, Krome and JoLayne follow. When Bode and Chub arrive at Chub's trailer, Shiner panics and opens fire on their truck. At the sound of gunfire, Krome and JoLayne take off, causing Chub and Bode to hear their car and give chase.
