Introduccion: Moraga, a half-Mexican, half-white American lesbian, discusses how her various identities have affected her life, particularly her life with her family. She knew she was a lesbian from a very young age but was unwilling to embrace it because of her Catholic faith; she felt like she was damned and that there was nothing she could do for it. The moment she left the Church, a community to which she belonged for her entire life, was a tearful moment, but a moment she knew she must pass through.
