Summary
Maria-from-Poznan talks about the stories she has heard about Jews; that people were receiving rewards for showing body parts as evidence of capturing escapees, and Jews will let their houses burn down if the fire starts during the Sabbath.
The guards decide to throw a party before their retreat and Oberfuhrer Schimmelpfennig is convinced to allow the girls to attend. Obersturmfuhrer Sarazin is also in attendance and pays particular attention to Skinny. He takes her back to her cubicle and again asks her to tie him up. Afterward, he tells her that they used dogs to track down the train saboteurs and that he always keeps food and schnapps with him as a reserve. He asks her to sew on a button for him and to clean his uniform, and falls asleep listening to the waltzes at the party while she does so...
