Summary
The narrator reveals that he knew Skinny when she passed through Terezin, before arriving at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When she came to the camp, however, she was put to work for Dr. Kreuger who sterilized her with X-rays and put her to work as a cleaner. After he was sent to the Front, for using skin from a Jewish man in a graft for an SS officer, Skinny knew she would be sent to the gas chambers the next day. When she realized that there were girls in the office who were being selected as prostitutes for a field brothel, she decided to lie and say that she was Aryan. She passed the assessment and was selected as a prostitute.
