Amy
Amy is the sixteen year-old main character, protagonist, and narrator in Elizabeth Scott's young adult novel, "Love You Hate You Miss You". Amy is tall, thin, bemoans the fact she doesn't have a large chest, and doesn't like her red hair. Amy is deeply sensitive, uncertain, and unsure when the novel begins, being released from rehabilitation following the death of her best friend, Julia, and her departure from indulgence in alcohol. She is lonely, and feels alone, and doesn't feel as if her parents want her. She is also struggling with the idea that she is responsible for Julia's death -which Julia's mother blames her for.
As the novel progresses, Amy becomes more confident through her meetings with her therapist, Laurie. She is forced to confront the past, to realize that her relationship with Julia wasn't all that she remembered it to be, that Julia made her own...
