Chapters 9 - 16 Summary

Chapter 9 - Laurie and Amy talk about Julia. Amy recounts how they met in sixth grade, when Julia and her mother move to Lawrenceville. Amy's parents had spent the summer in Germany, with her mother working on a book and her father following business leads. Amy was sent to a camp. Amy is sad because her parents don't say that they missed her. Amy recounts not being very happy with her group of friends, spearheaded by Beth. At recess, Julia introduces herself to Amy, after Amy has been banished by Beth. They decide to go trick-or-treating together, ad then become fast friends, and ultimately, best friends.
