Chapters 1 - 8 Summary
Chapter 1 - Amy is given a journal by Dr. Mark at the Pinewood Rehabilitation Center to document her journey moving on from recovery. Amy thinks it is a joke, writing her journal entries to her dead best friend, Julia, as if they were letters. It has been seventy-four days since Amy has had something to drink, and she is sorry for everything she has ever done to Julia. She also misses Julia.
At Pinewood, Amy's therapist, Laurie, counsels hers, and will continue counseling her once a week. Amy then goes to see her parents, Colin and Grace, who have come to pick her up.
