September 1 - September 29 Summary

Alvina has been fired from her job at Margie's for having too many fights with the customers. Margie offers Stargirl the job, but Stargirl declines. Meanwhile, Stargirl receives a phone call from Alvina's mother asking her to take Alvina under her wing. Alvina's mother recognizes how stable Stargirl is and how much Alvina looks up to her. She worries that Alvina is never going to grow out of her bullying phase and hopes that Stargirl can help mentor her onto the right path. For their first outing, Stargirl takes Alvina and Dootsie to the mall. There, the girls bicker constantly and Alvina gets into a massive physical fight with the same blond boys she fought with at the Dogwood Festival.
