Summary
On December 12th, 1964, Imogen promises Joan that she will do everything she can to help and will not tell anyone about the child. She reveals that she married Francis after his fiancé, Violet, abandoned him for his brother, Rollie, after the Great War while Francis was suffering from PTSD. At a party later, Francis drunkenly told Imogen that he is impotent due to the medicine he takes. Imogen said he could propose, and tells Joan that she wanted to make sure Francis would keep on living both physically and mentally rather than succumbing to his PTSD. She says their marriage was happy, but Joan's presence in their lives has improved it beyond her imagination.
