Summary
Joan writes on September 30th, 1963 thanking Imogen for the culinary puzzle. After a few tries, she made authentic jerk chicken for a few Jamaican college students, her mother, and Mr. Rodriguez who all enjoyed it. Eventually, she and Mr. Rodriguez took cooking classes from Matao Uwate at the Grand Central Market. Then, Joan and Mr. Rodriguez were invited to the Indonesian consulate before he took her to a shop called Hollinda to buy supplies for a rice buffet on her birthday. After visiting a bakery called Mrs. Harry's, Joan found a restaurant named Claudette's and learned family techniques for jerk chicken.
Imogen replies on October 23rd, 1963 wishing Joan a happy birthday with a gift of Aplets & Cotlets. Furthermore, she used the last of the saffron and mentioned their friendship in her column. She admits that she finds the phone impersonal...
