Yasmin Ghorami

Yasmin Ghorami is the central character in this novel. She is the daughter of Shaokat and Anisah Ghorami. She is Arif’s older sister. Yasmin is a dynamic character because she grows from believing she can create the perfect life for herself by following all the rules into a person who realizes there are some cases in which rules need to be broken and some cases in which it is self-destructive to break the rules.

Yasmin is studying to be a doctor. She claims she was inspired by her father, also a doctor, to study medicine, but her brother believes she was coerced into making that decision. Yasmin comes to realize that she did decide to study medicine to appease her father, but cannot think of anything that she would rather be doing with her life.
