Summary
In Chapter 72, Yasmin was surprised when Shah confronted her after her shift and commented that Pepperdine had said she was quitting medicine. Shah offered his opinion that girls often found themselves pressured into becoming doctors. Yasmin asked if he believed it was only “brown” (317) girls who found themselves pressured in that way.
In Chapter 73, when Yasmin confronted Pepperdine about what Shah said to her, he claimed he had mentioned Yasmin to Shah only to illustrate a point. He argued that Shah knew she was a good doctor, he was just frustrated with the delay in the announcement about the Centre of Excellence.
