PETER- The Date (pages 43-54)

Peter relates the details of how he and Jasper met at a party a short time ago. They hit it off and arranged a date, which was thwarted by 9/11. They eventually reschedule the date.

Peter and Jasper go to a restaurant where they speak of the recent events. The mood between them is strange and heavy. Jasper invites Peter back to his place. Once they are there, they watch the news and then a movie, but Jasper does not show signs that he wants Peter to kiss him. When it is time for bed, Jasper gives Peter sheets to sleep on the couch. Thirty minutes later, Jasper emerges from his bedroom in a playful mood. When they kiss, Peter feels there is emptiness and points it out to Jasper, who apologizes. They...
