Summary

Part II continues with Young remembering the events of five years earlier. Umma was recovering from an operation and Young was caring for her, so he did not see hyung for two weeks. When he finally did see him, they went for a walk and hyung became embarrassed when Young ran into someone he knew. Another time, they were walking in Olympic Park and came upon a married couple hyung knew from college. Hyung introduced Young as an “underclassman” (96). He told the couple that he and Young were in the park on “outside business” (97) and the man responded, “Two men have business here? ...Then you must be lovers” (97).
