Dealing with Loss and Grief

Through Lina’s story, the author is able to detail the process that a person takes when moving through loss and grief to a place where healing begins. Lina identifies the day that she learned her mother was dying of pancreatic cancer as being the worst day of her life. She believes that she survives the first six months after her mother’s death only because she has her friend, Addie, to help her through her grief. It is only after Lina moves to Italy and experiences the beauty of the Italian sunrise from the same tower that her mother did many years ago that Lina begins to see progress in her healing.
