Summary

In Chapter 9, Lina was surprised that Elena lived in a castle. Elena and all of the other teens at the party were happy to finally meet Lina. They admitted they did not meet new people very often. Lina noticed that Ren’s reaction when a blonde-haired girl with blue eyes entered the room. It was Mimi. She seemed to look through Lina. Someone whispered that Mimi was an ice queen. Ren, however, looked like he had been gifted a “lifetime supply of pink Starbursts” (120).

Ren took Lina to see the gardens from a balcony. While they were there, a boy named Thomas joined them. Lina was speechless because he was so attractive. She noticed that he was staring at her as well. Later, as she sat talking to Thomas with her feet dangling in the pool, Lina felt as if she was normal...
