Eliza and Rachel's Apartment

Located in London, Eliza and Rachel's apartment is the site of many of the novel's major events. Four years into their relationship, their space is invaded by ants. Eliza knows that she must eradicate the problem in order to prove her love. Because she forgets to put down the peppermint oil to deter the insects, an ant bites Rachel in the eye while sleeping in their bedroom. Years after the birth of their son, the couple continues living here with Arthur. Rachel also dies at home in the apartment while taking a bath.
