Streshnayva Estate
The Streshnayvas retreat to their residence in Malinov to seek safety in the lead up to the revolution. The Malen Koye Nebo estate had been gifted to Ivan Streshnayva by the tsar, as the family-owned linen factory had provided significant benefit to the Imperial finances. The sprawling property is located in the tsar's Imperial forest, with numerous servants and a groundskeeper that attend to the family. Sofya is resentful of Agnessa having converted the estate decor to a French style, and believes that her stepmother did so in order to remove all traces of Sofya's deceased mother. Varinka is hired by Sofya to take care of Max shortly after the family's arrival on the estate. Having never been exposed to such immense wealth, Varinka describes the estate as a fairy palace. Upon the outbreak of the revolution, the Streshnayvas are confined to the barn by the rebels...
