Importance: This is the first main theme of the novel, the idea that one needs to look forward instead of dwelling in the past. Lore is unable to accomplish this at the beginning as she is consumed by a need for vengeance against Aristos. She is unable to leave New York because it is familiar to her, and she is unable to abandon her grief at losing her family and Gil. In order to find a life outside of the Agon, Lore will have to let go of the past that is holding her back.
She would attain kleos and restore her house… The House of Perseus would rise again, and her name would be legend.
