Summary
In Chapter 20, Evermore, Diana reads a report Zara submitted, claiming she single-handedly pursued and killed Malcolm. There are other reports, all similar, and never any indication of Zara being injured during a battle. Diana immediately knows Zara is lying, and that her group is backing her up so the Clave accepts her reports. Gwyn interrupts her, inviting her to go for a ride with him. She accepts.
At the Institute, they receive word that Evenlyn – head of the facility – has left Alec in charge. Evelyn is older and decided she did not want to be involved in the problems. Kit recognizes a protective feeling toward Ty and hates that his father raised him with inherent distrust toward everyone. Magnus and the others discuss the situation, including what Malcolm might have wanted with the Black Volume when he first stole it and why he apparently...
