Summary
Chapter 5
Back in the present, Teddi returns to her shop in Charleston. She doesn’t regret leaving home when she was younger, but she wishes she had done it differently. She thinks her mother was never able to forgive her for how she left. She’s greeted by her repair specialist, Albert, informing her that Tula Poteet is present again. Tula frequently comes by the shop and tries to shoplift. Her son is a hotshot lawyer who always pays for whatever Tula takes. Teddi tries to keep track of her, but Tula ends up stealing one of the smaller boxes. Teddi gets in touch with her son, who agrees to pay for it.
