Summary

Chapter 3 is titled “Skitter Hitter” and winds up on Bastion Street. Pia Foster rides her skateboard down the hall of Latimer Middle School when school dismisses. If she had known what was going to happen after school, she might have walked or even stayed at school to talk to a girl named Fawn Samms, who is also a skater. Pia named her skateboard “Skitter” and considers it to be a girl. Stevie Munson attends the nearby private school, Brookshire Boys Academy. A boy named Marcus Bradford has been bullying Stevie. Private school is expensive and Stevie's mother bought the shirts too large so that Stevie could grow into them. Marcus often writes or draws on the collar of Stevie's shirt. Stevie then has to use a lot of bleach and detergent to get the stains off, and Stevie's mother objects to the cost of...
