Summary

In “Wheels Up,” Crosley is desperate for a cab to the airport. Running late, she hopes the “woman in a wheelchair and her date” do not get the first one (3). She ignores them the way most New Yorkers would “when embarking on otherwise benign activities” (3). When a cab appears, it is “designated for handicapped access,” and Crosley gives it to the woman, feeling a burst of goodwill (4). Her attitude changes when the woman’s date takes the cab and the woman does not get in. She and Crosley move in the same direction afterwards. Crosley watches her roll over a dog’s tail. When its owner asks what happened, Crosley blames the woman. The owner scolds her.
