Summary
In “I Had Half a Second,” Will recollected himself as the elevator stopped at the sixth floor. In “A Girl Stepped In,” a girl around Will’s age entered the elevator. In “She Checked to Make Sure,” Will wanted to lean back to look at the beautiful girl, but the gun in his waistband dug into his back. In “I Didn’t Know,” the girl joked about the fact that Buck was smoking in the elevator, even though it was not allowed. Will was surprised that the girl could see Buck too. The girl also noted Will’s gun, which she said was also not allowed on the elevator. In “She Could See,” Will felt the fact that the girl could see Buck meant that he was not hallucinating and this was really happening. In “At the Point,” Will reassures the reader that...
