Summary
In “Now,” Mickey requests not to be partnered with Lafferty any longer. Ahearn agrees without asking for an explanation.
Davis Nguyen, a detective, reports that two more homicide victims — Katie Conway and Anabel Castillo — have been found. Both appeared to be involved in prostitution. Both were strangled. Nguyen tells them the case of the woman found on the Gurney Street tracks is being reopened. Mickey notices that Ahearn will not look her in the eye. In her car later, Mickey realizes she has not seen Kacey since the homicides began. She is concerned. Mickey shares with her reader that she and Kacey have not spoken to each other for five years, even though she has kept an eye on her through her patrol work.
