Chapter 10 Summary

In chapter ten, Ruby visits with Olivia at her job at Vista Ten, a movie theater. Ruby says her dad is the manager and she's taking tickets when Gervais arrives. Ruby thanks Olivia for telling Nate where she'd gone when she passed out in the clearing. Olivia says the change to a new school had been horrible for her as well.

Ruby says everyone has a weakness that eventually does them in, and that hers is calculus. She's struggling to study one day when Nate arrives, having just taken Roscoe to the vet for Jamie and Cora. Nate convinces Ruby to leave the calculus and spend the day with him, running errands for his father's business. They pickup cats at one house that's overrun with the felines, dropping several at the vet's office. Nate says the woman takes in those without hope and...
