Summary
Elizabeth wakes up in Tom’s home in “Chapter 7: Now.” They spend the day exchanging happy stories, without discussing their separation. Elizabeth comforts Tom in the middle of the night when he throws up. The next morning, they go to the hospital. In the waiting room, Tom asks about Kate. Elizabeth praises Kate’s work as an engineer but privately laments the distance between her daughter and herself. A kind nurse escorts them to Dr. Dawkin’s room. Dr. Dawkins recommends chemotherapy to Tom. Tom is nervous but Elizabeth reassures him that she will stay with him for as long as he needs her.
