Alina
Alina is a young woman living in Oaxaca with her boyfriend, Sven, during his artist's residency. Though she has grown tired of Sven, she thinks the new location will give her a sense of relief from her own feelings of inadequacy and purposelessness. Oaxaca does not solve these existential issues, so Alina buys a kentuki crow. Though she does not understand the new technology, she thinks the tech pet might afford her some companionship. Colonel Sanders proves just as boring and pointless as everything else in her life. So she tries running endless miles every day. She spends the rest of her time visiting the public library. These pastimes bring her little joy. She does appreciate her friendship with one of the librarians, Carmen. However, Carmen is married and has children, and Alina cannot share everything with her.
