Summary
In "Oaxaca," Alina starts noticing Kentukis everywhere. During coffee with Carmen, Alina learns about "the kentuki boycott" (201). People had begun burying kentukis in the earth. Municipalities wanted the gadgets exhumed. People were protesting the burial disruptions. The issue has mostly "been lost amid much more alarming and real political noise" (203). Her strange relationship with Sanders continues. He looks abused and awful. Sven does not trust her with him. One day she lies in bed, staring at the ceiling. She does not know what she has "been waiting for," realizing nothing will change (204). She wishes people would use the kentukis for less banal things. She decides she will return to Mendoza after Sven's exhibition. She will leave the Colonel on the plane.
