Summary
In "Oaxaca," Alina occupies herself with long runs and library visits. She also invests in the crow. Sven responds amicably to it. They name him Colonel Sanders. Sven's interactions with Sanders make Alina consider their relationship. She is jealous of Sven's investment in his art. All she has are "contingency plans" (49). One day, Alina takes Sanders to meet her librarian friend, Carmen. Carmen's kids have kentuki cats, but they have to remain blindfolded at all times. Alina is happy she decided not to establish a "method of communication" with her kentuki (52). Then Alina realizes Sven is cheating on her with his assistant.
