Chapters Ten through Twelve Summary
Leaphorn goes next to Alice Enischee's place, where he expects to find Listening Woman. He does, but he also finds a coming-of-age ceremony in progress. Listening Woman is playing a role, and so Leaphorn joins in the singing and questions Listening Woman a couple of times over the course of the night's activities. She initially tells him that she gave all the information to the police, but Leaphorn says that he heard the police interrupt her story and that he wants to hear what cure she would have prescribed for Hosteen Tso, believing that might offer a clue about the case. She tells him about the desecrated drawings described briefly by Tso but says she doesn't know where these could be.
