Summary

In Chapter 17, Ut takes the daily grocery lists from Tam and Hanh to the market. Mai follows as Ut makes the daily purchases. One day, Ngoc says Minh will be away for another week. Ut lies, saying Lan is receiving regular messages from Minh. Ut takes Mai to Minh's house in the hope of learning more. They squeal with joy to find Minh there. Mai begins telling him he needs to make his feelings for Lan clear. Ut begins asking him about “glowing dot” she hopes he saw. Minh goes back inside and closes the door. He does not seem surprised that Mai and Ut are still there when he returns. Minh leads them to Hanh's house.
