Chapters 19 through 29 Summary

In chapter nineteen, Sam goes home but stops off at a shed that's fixed up for the wolves when they are returning to their human forms. There's a television, space heater, snacks and clothing there. Sam hears voices and realizes there's a boom box playing music. Sam discovers that Cole is inside. Cole says he's trying to become wolf. Sam reminds himself that Beck chose Cole and for that reason, if nothing else, he won't hate Cole.

In chapter twenty, Cole says that he has "a couple of personas," and that he can usually tell which to bring out to charm anyone. He hasn't been able to find a way to be comfortable with Sam. Cole recalls the first big magazine article about the band. He says the photographer hadn't known what to do and had tried posing the band members...
