Chapter 4 Summary
Fleming Pickering awakens in Senator Fowler's hotel suite in Washington D.C. Fowler tells Pickering that he will see Knox the next day when they will dine with the President. The hotel doctor arrives to tend to Pickering's bandages. He walked out of the hospital where he was supposed to stay for another two weeks. After the doctor leaves, Fowler helps Fleming dress so they can go to dinner. He tells Pickering that he does not think that Frank Knox will release him from the Navy.
Stecker and Pick find a ride from Lakehurst to Manhattan. They are not really going to Long Island that night but to the Foster Park Hotel, one of the hotels in the family chain.
