Chapter 4 Summary

Stella is dreaming that her grandfather is a dog while the crows outside of her window wake her up. An aide from the nursing home calls to let Stella know that Donald was checked into the hospital. When Shana asks who it was, Stella lies and says it is girl she knows who wants to walk to school with her. Before Stella leaves, Simon gives Stella a package of Nabisco crackers, the company where he works, and jokes about adopting another daughter.

As Stella walks past the Asian man that is always exercising in the park, she starts to realize how many different paths there are in life.
