Summary
Reza’s perspective starts with him in JFK airport with his mother, waiting for his sister to arrive. They look through the passengers then hear Tara calling Reza’s nickname Zabber. Tara is standing near the entrance, looking slightly disheveled and holding a small suitcase. Mina asks why she did not arrive with the other passengers, and Tara says she took an earlier flight. Tara makes a sarcastic comment about money, and her mother pulls her into a hug. Reza realizes Tara does not understand their new life with Abbas’s money.
On the drive home in the Mercedes Benz, Reza thinks about how Tara lies. Mina tells Tara she has not told Abbas about some of her past mistakes and Tara gets defensive. Mina asks that maybe Tara can keep her emotions more private, and Tara says her mother wants her to...
