Chapter 4 Summary

Thelma arrives for a visit with Laura at the house at Big Bear to find that Laura is in the midst of target practice. Chris is nearby and checks Laura's targets for accuracy, offering advice. Several months have passed, and Laura still hasn't heard from Stefan, though she's taken his advice that she should be prepared for anyone who might be a threat. She has several machine guns in the house as well as pistols that can be easily accessed from anywhere she happens to be in the house. She tells Thelma that Chris seems to be coping, though it was difficult at first, and that she still cries at night.
