Lightning Strike
Lightning Strike is a place in the Superior National Forest, and some people call it Boundary Waters. There is a burned-out cabin on the property, the result of a lightning strike that many Indians believe was divine retaliation for a company's logging operation on land the Indians considered a place of spiritual importance. Cork and Jorge discover Big John's body hanging in a tree here. Later, they learn that Big John and Mary Margaret had been meeting here for their romantic encounters.
Iron Lake Reservation
Iron Lake Reservation is an Indian reservation that includes the town of Allouette where Big John's wake is held. The town is very small with only a few businesses.
