Importance: This quote shows one of the many things Isla was taught by her guardians. Although the reader is more often shown how they trained her with literal weapons, this quote shows how they also trained her in the arts of seduction. As a Wildling, Isla would be expected to be beautiful. In fact, the Wildlings are feared because they are beautiful and kill whoever falls in love with them. Isla was taught by her guardians that in order to win the Centennial she must seduce Oro and gain his powers. However, in this section, Isla doubts this plan. This is one of the first examples of Isla wanting to carve her own path and not simply be something to be admired.
