Summary

Chapter One introduces the reader to Isla Crown, ruler of the Wildling realm when she teleports back to her room after portalling away from an unknown location. It is established that through using a magical device called a starstick, she is able to travel across the world. She does so secretly because her guardians, Poppy and Terra, have kept her sealed away from the world for her entire life.

During her hermetically sealed life, Isla has had to undergo intense training because as the ruler of the Wildling realm, she has to participate in the deadly Centennial competition, which begins today. Lightlark’s fictional world is home to six enchanted cultures, each possessing magical elemental abilities and gaining their life force through the powerful magic of their ruler.
