Beaufort Swan

Beau is the protagonist and narrator of the novel. He is the son of Charlie and Renee. Beau grew up in Phoenix but spent most of his summers in Forks. He is familiar with Forks but prefers his sunny hometown to his father’s rainy, gloomy city.

To begin, Beau looks more like Renee than he does Charlie. He says, “My mom says we look so much alike that I could use her as a shaving mirror” (4). In addition, Beau’s eyes reflect his maturity. He describes them as being “less youthful and more… unresolved” (4). Beau is unathletic and quite clumsy.
