Chapters Twenty-three and Twenty-four Summary and Analysis
In Chapter Twenty-three, people begin to send Damien cards and letters indicating how sorry they are for what the police have done to him after the HBO film Paradise Lost begins to circulate. It is also because of this documentary that Damien meets Lorri Davis, the woman who becomes his wife. When Lorri first reaches out to him, she apologizes for invading his privacy, something that others did not feel they needed to do because he was in prison. They begin to write to one another nearly on a daily basis. Six months after they begin writing, Lorri and Damien see one another for the first time. He explains his feelings for Lorri and tells his reader how he knew that he was in love with Lorri.
