Chapters Seven and Eight Summary and Analysis
In Chapter Seven, Damien has a room of his own in his grandmother's trailer. Although he hears jokes about the poor living in trailer parks, Damien considers himself in the lap of luxury in his grandmother's trailer compared to the other places in which he has lived.
After a description of Lakeshore Estates, Damien moves on to explain why he decided to join the Roman Catholic Church. He found a book on the Catholic Church when searching for information that would balance out what he had been taught in the years past about the hate and vengefulness of God. For him the Catholic religion seems to be about respect and the dignity of the spirit. Damien manages to convince Jack that he has had a "calling" to attend different churches so that Jack will agree...
