Summary

Chapter 6 – Jacob, Emma, Sharon, the Hollow, and the cubs arrive back at Bentham’s. Bentham has already prepared the machine, and all that it is needed now is the Hollow. Mother Dust, a healer, and her assistant, Reynaldo, arrive to treat and prepare the Hollow. To heal others, Mother Dusts’s body is reduced through her use of dust. It hurts her, but she explains she does it anyways because she was chosen to serve. The Hollow will take the night to heal enough to be used. Jacob and Emma discuss how they have ended up where they are. Jacob wonders about how Hollows have only existed for the last hundred years, both he and Emma were born right when they were needed. Emma considers that maybe people like her and Jacob existed before, but that simply didn’t know who they truly were...
