Summary
In "What's good about the heart is that it does not reason," after Ben's death, Libertie wondered if freedom was "worth it if you still ached like that" (77). She did not mention these thoughts to Cathy, but continued thinking about Ben and Daisy. She also wondered about the woman in the water and the message the water might be sending (78).
When "new people came" to Cathy, she looked sad (79). She continued healing, but "no longer imagined new cures" (78). She had lost people's trust. Libertie knew she was "still haunted by Daisy and Ben" (79).
