Point of View

Each of these stories is told from the point of view of a first-person narrator who is also a character in the story. Each story has a different narrator. “the jubilee express” is narrated by Jubilee, “a cheertastic christmas miracle” is narrated by Tobin and “the patron saint of pigs” is told by Addie. Each first-person narrator knows only what he has experienced in person or has heard from other characters. He has no insight into the thoughts or emotions of other characters unless they are shared in conversation. The use of a different first-person narrator for each story is interesting because it allows the reader to get three different perspectives on the other characters and situations in the novel.
