Summary
In “Scissors,” a woman named Dee is tied to a chair on stage at a cabaret theater, wearing a t-shirt dress. She observes the audience. A woman named El comes onstage wearing a tuxedo and holding a pair of scissors. Dee is surprised to see that El is barefoot, as she normally wears heels during this performance. This bothers her because it is a carefully coordinated routine, each part of which Dee has agreed to ahead of time. El uses the scissors to cut open Dee's dress. She then runs the scissors along Dee's bare flesh, causing the audience to flinch. She cuts a strip of the dress and ties it over Dee's eyes like a blindfold.
