The Lord's Work Summary and Analysis
Despite the awful conditions of Kigali, Immaculee continued to think positively. Land mines were hidden in the streets and there were corpses everywhere. Immaculee was careful as she made her way to the UN building to request employment. She had washed her clothes and practiced her English. Despite her efforts, she was turned away repeatedly. Immaculee began thinking about things that would improve her chances of finding a job. She needed new clothes and proof that she was educated. She resolved to return to her university dorm and sort through her possessions. The drive was four hours and a taxi was not an option.
