Hartwick House

Hartwick House is the name of the psychiatric facility where Jenna’s father lives. It is at the Hartwick House that Virgil, Serenity and Jenna visit Thomas in hopes they could get some information from Thomas about Alice’s disappearance.

New England Elephant Sanctuary

The New England Elephant Sanctuary is the area in Boone, New Hampshire owned by Thomas Metcalf where several elephants were kept. It was at this sanctuary that the central event of the novel, the murder of Nevvie, happened. Jenna spent the first three years of her life at this sanctuary. Most of the memories she had of her mother had this sanctuary as a backdrop.

Stark Nature Preserve

The Stark Nature Preserve is the name given to part of the land that was formerly the New England Elephant Sanctuary after the sanctuary closed.
